The Dove Campaign for Real BeautyThis is a research project I conducted in fall 2014. I analyzed portions of the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty to further analysis on the campaigns persuasive techniques. I also researched and critiqued the actual perception behind the beauty standards Dove set forth in the campaign. I have linked to a pdf and word document below. The pdf provides better quality, as there are images included within the paper itself. The images showcase some of the material I analyzed while searching through the campaign, such as billboards and magazine prints.

Appalachian Sustainable DevelopmentThis is a research project I conducted in fall 2014. I worked with a team of my classmates with a local nonprofit organization, Appalachian Sustainable Development. Together my classmates and I met with the organization and decided our main objective was to gain more donations for the organization. My team worked to re-market, brand, and effectively use more persuasive writing to gain donors and funding for Appalachian Sustainable Development. We gave a final presentation to the organization and a complete user guide. We wanted the organization to be able to continue with our techniques after we were gone.

The Plight of the Female Superhero
This is a research project I conducted in spring 2014. I analyzed female superheroes in Marvel and DC affiliated movies to determine which set of movies had more rigorous gender stereotypes employed throughout them after in class discussions. I coded specific actions to be sexist and watched a number of movies to determine how the females were portrayed throughout, or how their male counterparts treated the female heroes.
